The Cathedral of the Holy Cross Renovation
Our ancestors in the faith built this magnificent temple… and rightly named their Cathedral--our Cathedral--for the Lord’s cross.” - Cardinal Seán O'Malley
The Cathedral of the Holy Cross personifies the story of our past while engaging in broad pastoral outreach to the larger Catholic community. In addition to its significance as a place of worship and home to a multicultural urban community, its facilities deliver critical social services.
The Cathedral’s Upper Church has received little refurbishment in its 150-year history. A full restoration of the Cathedral’s interior is a pivotal cornerstone of Inspiring Hope to ensure that this monument to our faith remains a living expression of God’s love.
Cathedral of the Holy Cross Capital Fund: $26.0M
Capital
The Cathedral of the Holy Cross stands in the heart of a low-income community that is becoming one of the most gentrified in Boston. To ensure that the Cathedral remains a vibrant, safe, warm and utilized church for everyone to appreciate and worship in, the Cardinal has set up the Cathedral of the Holy Cross Capital Fund to help finance critically needed interior renovations and continued upkeep.
